Intro
Welcome! I'm so honored to be able to meet and work with you. My name is Dr. Margaret Feerick. I began my professional journey in education deeply appreciating the power of experiences in shaping individuals. That led me to complete my doctorate in developmental psychology with a focus on the role of personal relationships in helping individuals coping with trauma. I soon discovered my passion in working with people rather than studying them, and I completed a clinical psychology respecialization program to pursue clinical practice. Now I apply my training as a developmentalist, researcher, and clinician to help clients understand their own strengths and challenges and to identify evidence-based supports for and with them. I currently live in Maryland, and I am licensed in MD, DC, VA and PSYPACT participating states.
My motivation for working with autistic and neurodivergent adults stems from a long-standing interest in human development and appreciation of individual differences in styles of processing experience over the lifespan. Over the course of my career, I have focused my clinical and research work on understanding factors that promote resilience among individuals from different backgrounds. My goal is to help clients understand themselves and their unique strengths and challenges and develop skills to manage their every day lives and relationships.
I approach my work with a gentle, encouraging, and strengths-based approach so that all people feel seen, heard, valued, and understood. My goal is to help each client recognize their own individual strengths and abilities that can be used to foster life-long development and help them achieve their specific goals. I actively listen to clients to try to understand their unique viewpoints, and I try to create a safe and warm environment where clients feel validated and respected.
