Intro
Hello and welcome! Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Dr. Maile Monk and I am dual licensed as a psychologist and school psychologist in the state of Colorado. I studied at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley and have been working with exceptional individuals for the last 15 years. I specialize in assessment for a variety of identifications and diagnoses as well as helping to support the development of executive functioning skills for my clients. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to provide insights into self-exploration and guidance to help individuals to better advocate for their needs within their work and personal lives.
My motivation to work with autistic individuals is to help them better understand themselves, their needs, and strategies that will open greater access to resources to support their everyday functioning. Starting the process of exploration into self-awareness is the first step toward self-management, social-awareness, and building functional social skills and critical thinking. My goal is to help my clients gain a better understanding of themselves as individuals and to provide guidance around embracing the unique differences that make each person so incredible. When we are aware and accepting of our own strengths and needs, we are better able to navigate our environments and advocate for ourselves.
My approach is based on the understanding that every person demonstrates unique and wonderful characteristics that can be used to traverse their environments and build toward their personal hopes and dreams. Diversity in skill sets is essential for thriving communities and only through understanding our own strengths are we best equipped to find the right match for us individuals in our social, personal, and professional lives.
