Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

My motivation for treating adults of autism spectrum is to provide for them the best quality of care that allows them to gain life skills to thrive about their quality of life.  I have a Master's with a concentration of special education and have a great appreciation for individual who find themselves resilient despite learning disabilities, that are often temporary.  That parallels with me as a bicultural minority 10 year old from Peru  experiencing growing pains acclimating to a demographic that was not compatible with me from private school to social settings over the years into graduate school.  I value working with individuals with autism spectrum due to their history of being creative in finding ways to integrate themselves with the community around them.  I am looking forward to helping you enhance on skills to live a quality of life while feeling understood and supported every step of the way.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

Since 2002, it has been ingrained in me during past training from graduate school at University of Denver thanks to our PhD professors in noticing an individual strengths and characteristics that bode well for each to thrive about their environment, and their learning styles.  This would include those who thrive and learn through verbal and non verbal communication, visual, spatial awareness, experiential, auditory faculties,  strengths and talents they certainly possess from their home, school, occupational, public to social settings.  I firmly believe incorporating upon those strengths as they interact with the environment around them.  I value active listening and making sure they have a safe space to express themselves openly and gain validation about their journeys.
