About

Hello and welcome! I’m Dr. Lorretta Abbott, a clinical psychologist based in New Hampshire and licensed in both New Hampshire and California. I am passionate about supporting individuals on their journey toward better understand themselves, their experiences, and the unique ways they navigate the world. As a clinician, my style is straightforward, engaging, and compassionate. I believe in creating a space where you feel truly heard, understood, and comfortable being yourself. I approach each person with curiosity and respect, rather than assumptions. I strive to create an environment where you can talk honestly about your experiences without fear of judgment and where your perspective is an important part of the assessment process. My goal is to make the assessment process feel collaborative, respectful, and comfortable, while providing you with thoughtful and meaningful answers to the questions that brought you to the evaluation.

Education & Licensure
Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from the American School of Professional Psychology, Berkeley, CA; M.S. Counseling Psychology with an emphasis is Marriage and Family Therapy from Chestnut Hill College, Philadelphia, PA; B.A. Psychology from University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA.
Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

I am drawn to working with autistic adults because many have spent years trying to understand themselves without having a clear explanation for their experiences. Some have learned to adapt, mask, or push through challenges while still feeling that they experience the world differently from those around them. I value the opportunity to listen to your story, recognize patterns that may have been overlooked, and help you make sense of your experiences in a meaningful way. My goal is for you to leave the evaluation with greater clarity and a better understanding of yourself, along with practical recommendations to help you navigate challenges, build on your strengths, and develop skills that support your daily life and relationships.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

I prioritize a strengths-based approach, which means I want to understand what you do well, not just what you find difficult. Everyone has their own strengths, challenges, and ways of handling things that work for them. During our time together, I will take the time to learn about what comes naturally to you, what has helped you along the way, and where you may need more support. My goal is to help you recognize and build on your strengths while finding practical ways to make the more challenging parts of daily life a little easier.
