About
Hi there! I'm Dr. Elizabeth Nick and I'm a licensed psychologist in Michigan with a focus on assessment. I first became interested in assessment because it helps people figure out how to overcome challenges - with their mental health, learning, or the environment around them. But over the years, I've come to love assessment because I get to encounter so many unique minds, perspectives, skills, and strengths, and I have the privilege to explore them with each person. I strive to conduct assessments with warmth and humor. My goal is to be your partner in better understanding yourself and making a plan to move forward towards what matters to you.
Much of my early clinical work was with kids and teens, including conducting assessments for young people who may have autism, ADHD, or learning differences. I love working with youth, but when I started working with adults, I was really struck by my clients' strong motivation for deep self-understanding. Many of these adults were neurodivergent and had difficulty accessing assessment. I feel privileged to join autistic and neurodivergent adults in the assessment process.
I believe that you are the expert in you: your mind, body, lived experiences, background, and identities. I also believe that you're the expert in you even if it's difficult to put things about yourself into words at times. My job is to provide an open, relaxed, and respectful space to understand your experience. In doing so, I do my best to listen closely, ask clarifying questions, and approach each person without presuming to know their identities or experiences before they've told me themselves.
