About

Hello and Welcome!

‍

I'm Lisa Mejia, and I'm so glad you're here. Taking the first step toward therapy can feel overwhelming, and I believe one of the most important parts of the process is finding someone you feel comfortable connecting with.I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Oregon and currently live in beautiful Terrebonne, Oregon. My therapeutic approach is centered on meeting clients where they are and creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where they feel empowered to explore their challenges and strengths. I believe every client has a unique story, and therapy should be collaborative, individualized, and paced according to their readiness for change.

‍

I work with clients to address the issues currently holding them back while also exploring how childhood experiences, trauma, family dynamics, and learned behavioral patterns may be impacting their present-day functioning. My goal is to help clients build insight, develop practical coping skills, strengthen resilience, and create meaningful, sustainable change.

‍

I bring a strong combination of trauma-informed, client-centered care and experience serving diverse populations, including autistic and neurodivergent individuals across the lifespan. My approach focuses on meeting clients where they are, helping them understand both present-day challenges and the underlying factors contributing to them. I utilize evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, and strengths-based interventions while fostering a therapeutic relationship built on trust, empathy, and collaboration.

‍

In addition to these approaches, I draw from Person-Centered Therapy, trauma-informed care, and neurodiversity-affirming practices to tailor treatment to each client's unique needs and goals. Together, we'll identify what is working, what may be getting in the way, and develop practical strategies that support lasting growth and positive change.

‍

My experience includes working with children on the autism spectrum and currently supporting autistic and neurodivergent adults in community mental health through a neurodiversity-affirming lens. I am passionate about helping clients better understand themselves, recognize their strengths, and build lives that align with their values and goals.

‍

Additionally, my work as a crisis responder has provided extensive experience conducting comprehensive risk assessments, evaluating suicidal ideation, plan, intent, and means, developing safety plans, de-escalating high-risk situations, and coordinating referrals to higher levels of care when needed. These experiences have strengthened my ability to remain calm, compassionate, and supportive during life's most difficult moments.

‍

I believe healing happens when people feel seen, heard, and understood. Whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, relationship challenges, stress, or simply feeling stuck, I would be honored to walk alongside you on your journey toward greater well-being.

‍

You don't have to do it alone. Let's take the next step together.

Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

One of the areas I am most passionate about is working with autistic and neurodivergent individuals. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of supporting clients across the lifespan and have seen firsthand the resilience, creativity, and unique strengths that neurodivergent individuals bring to the world. I am committed to providing affirming, strengths-based care that moves away from "fixing" differences and instead focuses on understanding how each person experiences and navigates their environment. My goal is to create a space where clients feel accepted for who they are, gain a deeper understanding of themselves, develop practical strategies to meet their goals, and build confidence in advocating for their needs.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

At the heart of my work is the belief that every person has inherent strengths, even during times when life feels overwhelming or difficult. I take a neurodiversity-affirming and strengths-based approach that focuses on understanding and celebrating each client's unique way of experiencing the world. My goal is to create a space where clients feel genuinely seen, accepted, and supported without judgment. Together, we identify strengths that may have been overlooked, build practical tools for navigating challenges, and develop greater self-awareness and self-confidence. I believe meaningful change happens when people are empowered to embrace who they are while growing into who they want to become.
