About

Hey there! My name is Lauren Butler and I'm so glad you're here. I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor in Georgia and I'm fully certified in trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT). I have experience working with children, teens, adults, and families in various contexts, and have training and experience related to trauma, suicidal ideation, LGBTQIA+ issues, women's issues, and more. I'm very open-minded and feel very passionate about creating a safe space for all of my clients, regardless of gender identity, cultural background and experiences, sexual orientation, or belief system. I would be honored to be a supporter of your journey to healing!

Education & Licensure
B.A. in Christian Counseling from The Baptist College of Florida; M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Liberty University of Lynchburg, Virginia
Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

Because of both personal and professional experiences, I have become highly motivated to do everything I can to create safe, nurturing spaces for individuals who are neurodivergent. I think it's incredible that more resources are becoming available for those who may need more specifically-catered services due to their neurodivergence, and I'm thrilled to be a part of this effort! For so many years, I have felt like those who are on the autism spectrum have special "super powers" that often get overlooked or misunderstood, simply because there are people who lack the empathy and understanding needed to see it. To help anyone achieve their full potential, experience healing, and thrive in their journey is always my greatest honor.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

Every single person is unique and offers incredible personality, talent, and intelligence that can't be replicated by anyone else. In therapy, I work to help my clients identify their strengths and grow these, helping them to achieve their goals with the power and ability that's already there. Creating a safe space to process difficult thoughts and emotions is important as well, as there is so much empowerment in simply being heard and validated.
