About
Hello! I am Dr. Laura Stoppelbein, a licensed psychologist with more than 20 years experience working with neuordiverse adults as well as children and adolescents. I maintain a particular focus on psychological assessment and understanding each individual’s unique strengths and needs. I value a practical, collaborative approach and strive to help individuals and families better understand themselves and identify supports that can make a meaningful difference.
I chose to specialize in working with autistic individuals because I value the opportunity to help people better understand themselves and the way they experience and interact with the world. I appreciate the wide range of strengths, perspectives, and challenges that can be part of the autistic experience and believe it is important to approach each person as an individual. My goal is to provide a thoughtful and respectful evaluation experience that gives clients meaningful information about themselves and their needs.
I take an affirming and strengths-based approach by focusing on the whole person and make a point of recognizing individual strengths, interests, and abilities while also listening carefully to each client’s experiences and concerns. I approach assessment with curiosity and respect, recognizing that there is no single way that autism looks or is experienced. My goal is for clients to leave the evaluation with a clearer understanding of themselves, including both the things that come naturally to them and the areas where additional support may be helpful.
