About

Welcome and congratulations on taking the first steps to new self-understanding and wellness. My name is Dr. Laura Litynski Vitencz, but you can call me Dr. Laura. I am a clinical psychologist licensed in California with Saturday availability at my office in Tahoe and availability to meet with you virtually by appt for your autism assessment throughout the week on a flexible basis. I am excited to embark on this journey of discovery with you as we move through your assessment process. Assessments are a discovery process to get to know yourself better. They can reveal the expected and sometimes the unexpected. I will be with you every step of the way to explore and support you, so by the end you receive the services you need.

Education & Licensure
PHD in Psychology from Walden University, Minneapolis; Masters in Counseling & Human Systems from Florida State University, Tallahassee; Bachelors in Psychology and Applied Music from Hartwick College, Oneonta
Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

Throughout my career, I have worked with many adults, and children who have strived to succeed with challenges they didn't understand in regard to neurodivergence. Many were gifted intellectually or had rare talents, unique ways of handling situations, people or interactions or struggled with how to cope with situations and succeed. With each individual I was honored to know them and help them gain a greater understanding of their gifts, talents, capabilities and present a path forward for their challenges. Sometimes that path forward was just understanding and acceptance, sometimes it was opening doors to resources and tools they needed to succeed and sometimes it was learning to love all of what they learned about themselves to be free to be who they are and thrive. In the end, it brings joy to me to know you and help you live your best life with what we learn together.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

It is important to me that each individual feels seen, respected and valued for who they are, and who they want to be. I want to learn about your talents, your challenges and your vision of your future.  Our sessions together will be an interactive, encouraging and growth oriented. Come as you are because you are important and valued. What we learn together through assessment in our sessions is valuable information for you to pursue your best life gaining the knowledge and tools you need for success.
