About

Hello! My name is Laura, and I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida. I've been working as a counselor for over ten years. I've always been fascinated by psychology. Why do people think and behave the way they do? What transforms a regular conversation into a therapeutic one? What motivates people to change? I've explored these ideas throughout my practice. I truly believe that therapy can benefit everyone, and I work with each individual to discover the path and the tools that will be most beneficial for and resonant with them.

Education & Licensure
Masters in Professional Counseling from Carlow University, Pittsburgh; Masters in Seconday English Education from Boston University, Boston; Bachelors from College of the Holy Cross, Worcester.
Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

My work with autistic adults developed out of my own experience of being diagnosed as autistic late in life. I can relate to the transformative value of finally having a framework for self-understanding, as well as the value of having a supportive and affirming person with whom to process that experience. I am passionate about providing a space where clients feel understood, respected, and accepted as they are. I enjoy helping clients explore their identities, better understand their unique ways of thinking and experiencing the world, navigate relationships and life transitions, and build lives that align with their values and needs. It is deeply meaningful to me to support clients in developing self-compassion, self-advocacy, and a greater sense of authenticity and well-being.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

I have always approached my therapeutic work from a person-centered perspective, meaning that I view each client as a whole person with unique abilities and experiences. My focus is on helping clients recognize and build upon their existing strengths.

My approach is rooted in compassion, curiosity, and respect for each individual's lived experience. I also strive to create a therapeutic environment where clients feel affirmed, understood, and empowered. For neurodivergent clients in particular, this means recognizing that differences are not deficits and that there is no single "right" way to think, communicate, learn, or engage with the world. I work collaboratively with clients to identify the qualities that have helped them navigate challenges and persevere throughout their lives. Together, we explore how those strengths can be leveraged to support their goals, relationships, well-being, and sense of self.
