About
Hi, I'm Latoria. I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC) based in South Carolina, where I have the privilege of supporting children, adolescents, adults, and families as they navigate life's challenges.
I've always been drawn to helping people make sense of their experiences and recognize the strengths they already possess. What drives me most as a therapist is creating a space where people feel safe enough to be honest, understood enough to feel less alone, and empowered enough to make meaningful changes in their lives. I know that reaching out for therapy can feel intimidating, so I work hard to create an environment that is welcoming, authentic, and free of judgment.
My background includes working in school-based mental health and community settings, where I've had the opportunity to help individuals facing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, behavioral challenges, life transitions, and relationship concerns. Those experiences have reinforced my belief that healing isn't about having all the answers—it's about having someone who will walk alongside you, help you build on your strengths, and support you as you move toward the life you want.
My passion for working with autistic and neurodivergent individuals grew from seeing how often they are misunderstood rather than truly supported. Throughout my career, I've worked alongside children and families who were incredibly capable but were frequently viewed through the lens of their challenges instead of their strengths. I realized that many weren't struggling because something was "wrong" with them—they were struggling because the environments around them weren't designed to understand how they experience the world.
That realization changed the way I practice. I wanted to become a therapist who helps neurodivergent individuals feel seen, respected, and accepted for who they are, while also equipping them with tools to navigate a world that isn't always built with them in mind. I believe therapy should never focus on changing who someone is. Instead, it should help them build confidence, develop meaningful coping strategies, strengthen relationships, and advocate for their needs while honoring the way their brain naturally works.
I believe every person has unique strengths, abilities, and perspectives that deserve to be recognized and celebrated. My role as a therapist isn't to "fix" who you are—it's to help you better understand yourself, build on what already makes you resilient, and develop the skills and confidence to navigate life's challenges in a way that feels authentic to you.
My approach is neurodiversity-affirming, compassionate, and collaborative. I strive to create a space where you feel accepted, understood, and free to be your authentic self. Together, we'll identify your goals, celebrate your progress, and develop strategies that fit your individual needs and values.
As a Black woman and therapist, I understand the importance of feeling seen, heard, and culturally understood. I welcome clients from diverse backgrounds and am committed to providing care that is inclusive, culturally responsive, and affirming of each person's identity and lived experience. My hope is that you leave each session feeling empowered—not because you've become someone different, but because you've gained a deeper appreciation for your strengths and greater confidence in your ability to thrive.
