About
Hey, I’m Dr. LaShonda Green. I’m a New York- and New Jersey- licensed psychologist who believes healing doesn’t have to feel cold, clinical, or disconnected. My style is warm, direct, culturally aware, and intellectually grounded. My work is centered on helping you better understand yourself or your loved one through a thoughtful assessment process that goes beyond labels and looks at the full person. I know seeking an evaluation can come with a lot of emotions—questions, relief, uncertainty, frustration, or simply wanting answers after years of feeling misunderstood. I create a space where you can show up as you are. You do not need to mask, perform, or explain away your differences here.During the evaluation process, I aim to make things clear and manageable. I gather information carefully, listen closely, and provide feedback that is honest, useful, and compassionate. My goal is not simply to determine whether criteria are met, but to help you better understand strengths, challenges, patterns, and next steps. If you are seeking answers, validation, accommodations, or a clearer picture of how you or your loved one experiences the world, I’m here to help make that process empowering rather than intimidating.
I was drawn to this work because too many autistic and neurodivergent people have been misunderstood, overlooked, or forced to fit into systems that were never designed with them in mind. I’ve seen how often individuals—especially women, adults, and people from culturally diverse backgrounds—go years without clear answers, while being mislabeled as difficult, anxious, lazy, or “too much.” That deserves to be challenged.I specialize in autism and neurodivergence evaluations because I value truth, nuance, and helping people better understand themselves. A quality assessment can bring language to lifelong experiences, validate struggles that others may have minimized, and highlight strengths that were missed. It can be a turning point. For me, this work is about more than diagnosis. It is about helping people make sense of their story, reduce self-blame, and move forward with clearer self-understanding and practical next steps.
I chose to specialize in working with autistic and neurodivergent clients because I’ve always been interested in brilliance that gets overlooked. Too many people spend years being misunderstood, underestimated, or told what they lack instead of being recognized for how they uniquely think, create, solve problems, feel deeply, and move through the world. I wanted to do work that helps shift that story.I don’t believe people should be reduced to deficits. I focus on identifying strengths, patterns, talents, and untapped potential. An evaluation with me is not about “what’s wrong with you.” It’s about understanding how you’re wired, what supports your growth, and what helps you thrive. Sometimes the very traits that caused struggle in one environment become strengths in the right one.I’m especially passionate about those who have been missed by traditional systems—women, adults, high-masking individuals, and people from culturally diverse backgrounds who were never fully seen. As a Black woman, I understand how easily nuance can be ignored and how powerful it is to finally feel accurately understood.
