About
Hello and welcome! I'm so glad you're here. My name is Dr. Lanique Ruffin, and I'm a licensed clinical psychologist living in California. Over the past decade I've worked with adults across many settings, including hospitals, community clinics, telehealth, and university classrooms. I've also completed hundreds of psychological evaluations. What drives me is helping people finally make sense of themselves. I believe you deserve a space where you can show up exactly as you are, without masking, explaining, or apologizing. My goal is to partner with you, listen closely to your story, and give you clear, meaningful answers you can carry forward. Every person's journey is unique, and I'm committed to offering care that honors yours.
I have seen how often brilliant, capable people have been misunderstood, overlooked, or labeled in ways that never fit. Many neurodivergent adults, especially women and people of color, spend years being missed or misdiagnosed before anyone asks the right questions. I want to be the clinician who asks those questions. An autism assessment can be a turning point: a chance to replace years of self-doubt with understanding, language, and self-compassion. It is a privilege to be part of that moment and to help clients see their neurodivergence as a valid, valuable way of being in the world.
My approach is affirming, collaborative, and rooted in respect for how each person naturally thinks, communicates, and experiences the world. I don't view autism as something to fix. I focus on understanding your strengths, the strategies that already work for you, and the environments where you thrive. Throughout the assessment, I explain what we're doing and why, invite your questions, and treat your self-knowledge as essential expertise. I also bring a culturally responsive lens shaped by years of serving diverse and underrepresented communities. I understand how identity, culture, and past experiences with healthcare systems shape how people show up and whether they feel safe being seen. My hope is that you leave our work feeling heard, validated, and equipped with insight that empowers you to live more authentically.
