About

Hi there and welcome! My name is Lacey and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas with over 15 years of experience working at the intersection of mental health and disability services. My work is grounded in the belief that you are the expert on your own experience. My approach blends neuroaffirming, identity-affirming and strength-based principles. I also believe in education as a powerful tool in understanding yourself and how  you respond to the world around you. Whether you are navigating a new diagnosis, making sense of your identity, managing anxiety, or simply trying to feel more at home in yourself, I am here to walk alongside you in that process.

Education & Licensure
Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Texas Wesleyan University, Fort Worth, Texas; Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Texas Wesleyan University of Fort Worth, TX.
Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

My motivation is both personal and professional. Professionally, I spent years working with people of all spectrums of intellectual and developmental disabilities and it became one of my favorite parts of my career. I have watched people pour enormous energy fitting into systems that were never designed for them.  I was honored to work with people every day that just wanted to be seen, heard, understood and respected for who they were. Personally, my own relationship with late diagnosed Autism and ADHD deepened my understanding of what it means to move through a world in a brain that works differently and how much it matters to be truly seen and affirmed in a therapeutic space. Choosing this path allows me to provide support to a community of people that deserves care that is actually built for you.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

I start with a premise that there is nothing wrong with you.  My job is not to "fix" you, it is to help you understand yourself more deeply, recognize what is already working and build on it. In practice, that means we spend real time exploring your strengths as a clinical foundation.  Your character, your values, the ways you naturally engage with the world are the scaffolding we build from.  I want to adapt therapeutic tools to your nervous system and communication style, not the other way around. Affirming care, to me, means you never have to mask or perform, just show up. And if you don't know who that unmasked person is yet, I got you.  We will walk that path together.
