About

Hello, and welcome! I'm Dr. Kristen Thurman-Hanson, a licensed psychologist providing evaluations through telehealth in Oregon and Washington. I've worked with adults across a variety of healthcare settings, including primary care, specialty hospital services, and community-based care. Deciding to pursue an evaluation often begins with questions and a desire to better understand yourself. My goal is to create a respectful, collaborative environment where you feel comfortable sharing your experiences. I approach each evaluation with curiosity and careful attention to your experiences, and I take the time to understand the whole picture rather than making assumptions. My hope is that when you leave the evaluation the conclusions feel thoughtful and true to your experiences - even if they aren't what you expected. Above all, I want you to leave with greater clarity and practical recommendations that support your next steps.

Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

Early in my career, I had the opportunity to work alongside individuals with a wide range of developmental and other disabilities who received varying levels of support. That experience reinforced the importance of seeing each person as an individual rather than through the lens of a diagnosis, and it continues to shape my work today. I believe a thoughtful evaluation should explore the whole picture with curiosity and care. Whether the evaluation supports an autism diagnosis or points in a different direction, my goal is to provide meaningful answers and practical recommendations that ideally help you to build on your strengths, reduce barriers, and participate more fully in the life you want to live.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

I believe every person brings a unique combination of strengths, challenges, and life experiences, and that a meaningful evaluation should recognize all of those parts. I strive to create an environment where individuals feel respected and comfortable sharing their experiences openly. My approach emphasizes understanding not only the areas where life has felt difficult, but also the strengths that can help people move forward with greater clarity and confidence.
