About
Hello and welcome! I’m so glad you’re here. My name is Kristen Piering, and I am a licensed therapist based in New York. I am passionate about helping individuals better understand themselves through a compassionate and collaborative process.I believe that pursuing any mental health care can bring up many emotions; curiosity, relief, uncertainty, validation, or all of the above; and I strive to create a space where you feel comfortable, respected, and genuinely heard. My approach is warm, thoughtful, and neurodiversity-affirming, with a focus on understanding each person’s unique experiences, strengths, and challenges. My goal is to provide a supportive and thorough experience that helps foster greater self-awareness, clarity, and confidence moving forward. I feel honored to be part of this important step in your journey
I chose work with autistic and neurodivergent individuals because I’ve always been drawn to understanding the unique ways people experience and move through the world. I am especially passionate about supporting individuals who may have spent years feeling misunderstood, overlooked, or pressured to fit expectations that may not have truly reflected who they are.I deeply value a neurodiversity-affirming approach and believe that differences in communication, thinking, and relating are important parts of a person’s identity and experience. I find it incredibly meaningful to help clients gain greater self-understanding, validation, and clarity about themselves and the way they experience the world.
I bring a warm, affirming, and strengths-based perspective to my work by focusing on the whole person. I believe that every individual has unique strengths, insights, and ways of engaging with the world. I prioritize creating a space where clients feel comfortable showing up authentically, without fear of judgment. I approach each session with curiosity, compassion, and respect for the client’s lived experiences, taking time to truly listen and understand their perspective.
