About
Having a trusted, empathetic therapist can help in the healing and growth process. Formerly a teacher, I earned my Ph.D. working with justice system involved citizens, which inspired me to obtain another degree in Clinical and Mental Health Counseling. I have extensive experience working with persons with substance abuse issues, depression, anxiety, and trauma. My classroom experiences have led me to help people find their way with an empathic, caring approach.
I'm motivated to work with neurodivergent and people autism because I am committed to fairness and supporting all people. With friends and family members who are neurodivergent or have autism, I strive to affirm people. I'm especially intent on making people feel safe and respected and helping them know they do not need to be changed.
People are resourceful and resilient, often able to handle whatever comes along in relationships, school, work, and life in general. Sometimes, though, we’re faced with situations, circumstances or traumatic experiences that can feel overwhelming. My goal in therapy is to help clients see their strengths and tools and help them develop the attributes they want in order to be the person they want to be.
