Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

What drew me to this work is recognizing the gaps that still exist in clinical care for neurodivergent individuals. As a child psychologist, I’ve seen firsthand how missed or delayed diagnoses, and at times misdiagnoses, can prevent people from receiving the understanding, accommodations, and support they deserve. When strengths go unrecognized and needs are overlooked, it can affect a person’s wellbeing across the lifespan.I’m passionate about partnering with neurodivergent individuals to help them gain greater understanding of themselves, access appropriate supports, and build on their unique strengths so they can thrive and live meaningful, fulfilling lives. I also recognize that our world is not always designed to support neurodivergent individuals, which makes this work especially meaningful to me. I feel privileged to contribute to more affirming, strengths based, and inclusive care.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

I view neurodivergence through a strengths based lens and believe that every neurodivergent person brings unique perspectives, abilities, and ways of experiencing the world that deserve to be recognized and celebrated. My approach begins with recognizing and building upon each person’s individual strengths rather than focusing first on challenges.Early in our work together, I help clients identify the qualities, abilities, and sources of resilience they already possess, especially those that may have gone unnoticed or undervalued. I believe these strengths provide a strong foundation for navigating challenges, building confidence, and thriving.I also strive to affirm every part of a person’s identity so they feel empowered to embrace who they are rather than feeling they need to change who they are. As someone who comes from an under resourced, marginalized Latinx community, I understand the importance of feeling seen, valued, and taking pride in your identity. That perspective deeply shapes my work, and I hope to offer neurodivergent individuals the same sense of affirmation, belonging, and celebration of their unique strengths so they can realize their full potential.
