About

Hi, I'm Dr. Kelly Schuck. I live in Colorado and am licensed to practice psychology in both Colorado and Alabama. Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of helping people better understand themselves through comprehensive psychological assessments and evidence-based care. What draws me to neurodivergent assessments is the opportunity to provide clarity, validation, and hope. Many people spend years feeling misunderstood or believing something is "wrong" with them when, in reality, their brains simply work differently. I love helping individuals and families make sense of those differences, recognize their strengths, and move forward with confidence, practical strategies, and a deeper understanding of themselves.

Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

Throughout my career, I've been drawn to helping people who have spent years feeling misunderstood. Many neurodivergent individuals reach adulthood wondering why life has felt more difficult than it seems for others, often carrying years of self-doubt, frustration, or inaccurate labels. I wanted to specialize in neurodivergent assessment because I believe that understanding how your brain works can be profoundly validating and life changing.

I approach every assessment from a strengths-based, neurodiversity-affirming perspective. My goal is not simply to determine whether someone meets diagnostic criteria, but to understand the whole person—their unique abilities, challenges, experiences, and goals. An accurate assessment can provide clarity, replace self-criticism with self-understanding, and open the door to supports and strategies that truly fit.

There is nothing more rewarding than seeing someone leave an evaluation with a deeper appreciation for who they are and the confidence to move forward knowing they are not "broken"—their brain simply works differently. I consider it a privilege to be part of that journey and am committed to creating an environment where every client feels respected, understood, and empowered.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

I believe the most meaningful assessments go beyond identifying challenges—they uncover strengths, explain differences, and provide a roadmap for success. My approach is neurodiversity-affirming, evidence-based, and deeply individualized. Every evaluation begins with genuine curiosity about who you are, how you experience the world, and what you do best.

Rather than focusing on deficits, I seek to understand each person's unique cognitive, emotional, social, and behavioral profile. I work collaboratively with clients to identify their strengths, recognize patterns that may have gone unrecognized for years, and translate assessment findings into practical strategies that support success at home, school, work, and in relationships.I strive to create an environment where clients feel heard, respected, and understood. My goal is for every individual to leave the assessment with greater self-awareness, self-compassion, and confidence—not only because they have answers, but because they have a deeper understanding of their unique abilities and how to leverage them. I believe neurodiversity is a valuable part of human diversity, and I am committed to helping each client recognize and build upon the strengths that make them who they are.
