Hello, and congratulations on taking this step toward understanding yourself more thoroughly. My name is Kelly Renzi, and as a licensed clinical psychologist in Illinois, I provide neurodiversity-affirming autism assessments for adults. I understand that pursuing an autism assessment in adulthood often comes after years of masking and feeling misunderstood. I believe that the diagnostic process should be a collaborative, validating, and empowering journey rather than a clinical hurdle. My approach is one that values neurodivergence as a unique and valid way of experiencing the world. I strive to create a warm, low-pressure, and accommodating environment from our very first meeting.
Through both personal and professional experience, I have seen firsthand how many neurodivergent people are misunderstood and dismissed. I have also seen the success that individuals enjoy when they feel empowered and confident. I have performed psychological evaluations for many years, and over time have become interested in focusing on this unique population after recognizing the success that comes with increased education and validation.
My evaluations go beyond traditional diagnostic criteria. While this is an important piece of any diagnostic evaluation, I aim to also explore your unique strengths and coping strategies. I strive to not only identify these as part of understanding you as a whole person, but also incorporate them into developed recommendations.
