About
Hi! Thank you for taking the first steps in your counseling journey! I know therapy can sometimes feel intimidating, but you did it, and I wanted to congratulate you before any introductions were made! My name is Kayla Stone, and I am newly licensed in the state of Georgia. As a clinician, I believe that your feelings are real and valid. I will ensure that you feel free to be yourself without judgment, criticism, or awkward stares. My second goal is to help you gain insight and skills to weather whatever stressful event is currently challenging you and depleting your strength.
My motivation for working with neurodivergent clients originates from a deep and personal respect for neurodiversity and the fact that society does not provide a space for neurodivergent individuals to feel truly safe and unmasked. Instead, society is framed for neurotypicals and blatantly ignores neurodiversity. I wanted to become a counselor who champions neurodiversity. I also wanted to become a person where you and I can foster a life where you don’t have to shrink yourself to please people, but you can thrive.
First, I practice eclectic therapy, which means I draw from multiple therapeutic modalities during treatment. I believe your experience is unique, so one approach alone may not always be the best fit. I also prioritize honoring your identity—whether that means affirming LGBTQ+, Black, cisgender, or other aspects of who you are. My goal is to provide affirming, strength-based care and to recognize that all parts of you are welcome and valued in therapy.
