About

Hello and welcome! I’m Katie Flanigan-Landeros, a licensed clinical psychologist based in Los Angeles, California. My clinical background includes working with adults experiencing anxiety, OCD, ADHD, perfectionism, and other concerns that may overlap with autistic and neurodivergent experiences. I approach assessment with warmth, curiosity, and respect for each person’s identity and lived experience. My goal is to create a comfortable, affirming space where you can be yourself, feel genuinely heard, and develop a clearer and more compassionate understanding of how you experience and navigate the world.

What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

I was drawn to working with autistic adults and other neurodivergent people because many spend years feeling different, misunderstood, or exhausted from trying to meet expectations that were not designed with their needs in mind. This can be especially true for adults who have learned to mask, whose strengths may have caused their support needs to be overlooked, or whose experiences were previously understood only through anxiety, OCD, ADHD, depression, or perfectionism. I believe a thoughtful, neurodiversity-affirming assessment can offer more than diagnostic clarity—it can provide validation, meaningful self-understanding, and a more compassionate way of making sense of one’s life experiences. I value the opportunity to help each person feel genuinely seen while recognizing both the challenges they experience and the strengths, perspectives, and abilities they bring with them. My hope is that clients leave the process feeling more connected to themselves, better able to communicate their needs, and more confident in identifying the support and accommodations that may help them thrive.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

I approach each assessment with the understanding that every person brings a unique combination of strengths, support needs, identities, and life experiences. Rather than viewing differences as deficits to be corrected, I work collaboratively with clients to understand how they process information, communicate, connect with others, respond to their environment, and navigate daily life. As a clinician with my own lived experience of neurodivergence, I understand how meaningful it can be to have language for your experiences and to feel understood without being judged or asked to hide parts of yourself. I listen carefully, respect each client’s preferred language and identity, and consider the whole person rather than focusing only on test scores or isolated areas of difficulty. My goal is to provide feedback that feels compassionate, practical, and personally meaningful while recognizing both the challenges clients experience and the strengths, perspectives, and abilities they bring with them.
