About
I am a licensed clinical psychologist and professor living and practicing in Chicago, Illinois, where I have devoted more than two decades to advancing culturally responsive mental health care. My work is rooted in the belief that healing is both personal and collective, and that every individual carries inherent wisdom, resilience, and possibility. As a clinician, educator, and community‑based provider, I bring a warm, relational, and deeply human approach to supporting clients as they navigate their lives with greater clarity, confidence, and self‑compassion.
I chose this path because I have always been moved by the strength and complexity of people’s stories—especially those shaped by cultural identity, community, and lived experience. I am committed to helping individuals reclaim their voice, honor their truth, and experience psychological care that affirms who they are. My work is guided by a desire to reduce harm, expand access, and ensure that people—particularly those from marginalized communities—receive care that sees them fully and honors their humanity.
In my clinical work, I focus on reckoning with and elevating each person’s strengths rather than centering their challenges. I approach therapy as a collaborative, affirming space where clients can explore their experiences with compassion, curiosity, and dignity. My role is to help individuals recognize the power they already possess, deepen their self‑understanding, and build upon the capacities that allow them to thrive. I am committed to supporting clients as they move toward their fullest potential, guided by culturally grounded practices and a belief in their inherent worth.
As a long‑standing member and leader within the Association of Black Psychologists, I also bring an affinity‑based perspective that may resonate with clients seeking a provider who understands the cultural, historical, and communal contexts that shape their lived experiences.
