About
Hello! I’m Julie Smith, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in Kentucky and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Connecticut. I’ve worked in the mental health field for more than a decade, helping individuals navigate life’s challenges with compassion, curiosity, and practical support.I believe that every person deserves to feel understood, accepted, and empowered to live a meaningful life. My passion is creating a safe, welcoming space where clients can be themselves without fear of judgment. Whether you’re navigating the unique experiences of autism, managing anxiety, recovering from past trauma, or simply trying to better understand yourself, I’m here to walk alongside you with empathy and evidence-based care.
I’ve always been drawn to helping people who have felt misunderstood, overlooked, or like they’ve had to work harder than others just to navigate everyday life. As I’ve learned more about autism and neurodivergence, I’ve come to deeply appreciate the unique strengths, perspectives, and ways of experiencing the world that each person brings. I believe neurodivergent individuals deserve care that is affirming, individualized, and rooted in understanding rather than trying to change who they are.As a therapist, my goal is to create a space where clients feel safe enough to be themselves, explore their experiences without judgment, and discover practical strategies that help them thrive in their own lives. I enjoy helping people better understand themselves, build on their strengths, improve relationships, manage anxiety and stress, and develop greater confidence. It is incredibly meaningful to walk alongside clients as they gain self-acceptance, advocate for their needs, and create lives that align with who they truly are. I consider it a privilege to support autistic and neurodivergent adults in a way that honors their individuality while helping them achieve the goals that matter most to them.
I believe every person has unique strengths, abilities, and perspectives that deserve to be recognized and celebrated. My approach begins with understanding each client’s individual experiences, values, and goals rather than focusing solely on challenges or areas of difficulty. I strive to create a safe, affirming, and collaborative environment where clients feel genuinely heard, respected, and accepted for who they are.Together, we identify existing strengths and build practical skills that support emotional well-being, self-understanding, relationships, communication, and everyday functioning. I use evidence-based approaches while tailoring therapy to each person’s needs, recognizing that there is no one-size-fits-all path to growth. My hope is that clients leave sessions feeling empowered, more confident in themselves, and equipped with tools that help them navigate life in ways that align with their values and allow them to thrive as their authentic selves.
