About

Hello and welcome! I'm Jo Love, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas, educator, and advocate. With master's degrees in Curriculum & Instruction and Counseling & Development, along with experience in education, school counseling, behavioral health, and private practice, I bring a unique perspective to the therapeutic process. I work with adolescents, adults, couples, and families navigating life's challenges, relationship concerns, emotional overwhelm, and periods of transition.

As both a therapist and educator, I understand that no two people experience the world in exactly the same way. My goal is to create a supportive, collaborative environment where you feel heard, respected, and empowered to grow. I believe therapy should be tailored to the individual, not the other way around, and I strive to meet clients where they are while helping them move toward where they want to be.

Education & Licensure
Master of Education (M.Ed.), Counseling & Development — Lamar University, Beaumont, Texas; Master of Education (M.Ed.), Curriculum & Instruction — University of North Texas at Dallas, Dallas, Texas; Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), Political Science — Texas Southern University, Houston, Texas.
Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

My passion for working with neurodivergent individuals comes from a deep appreciation for the many ways people think, learn, communicate, and experience the world. Throughout my career in education, school counseling, and mental health, I have worked alongside individuals whose strengths were often overlooked because the focus remained on what they struggled with rather than what they brought to the table.

I am drawn to helping people better understand themselves, navigate challenges with confidence, and build lives that honor their unique needs, values, and strengths. I believe that feeling understood can be transformative, and I am committed to creating a space where clients can show up authentically, explore their experiences without judgment, and develop tools that support meaningful and sustainable growth.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

My approach is affirming, strengths-based, trauma-informed, and practical. I believe every person possesses strengths, abilities, and resilience that can serve as powerful tools for growth and healing. Rather than focusing solely on challenges, I work collaboratively with clients to identify their strengths, build self-awareness, and develop strategies that align with their individual goals and lived experiences.

I strive to create a therapeutic environment where clients feel safe expressing themselves authentically and exploring both their struggles and successes. Whether we are working through anxiety, emotional regulation challenges, relationship concerns, burnout, self-esteem issues, life transitions, or family dynamics, my goal is to help clients develop greater confidence, self-understanding, and emotional wellness while building on the strengths they already possess.
