About

Hello, and welcome! I'm Dr. John S. Moore III, a licensed clinical psychologist in California. As a first-generation college graduate and Army veteran, I understand that our identities and life experiences shape how we see ourselves and navigate the world. For more than 13 years, I have provided psychological assessment, therapy, and consultation to adolescents and adults across schools, community mental health, and private practice. I make up less than 1% of African American males psychologist that practice in school settings. My goal is to create a warm, collaborative space where you feel genuinely seen, heard, and respected from our very first conversation. Whether you're seeking greater self-understanding, exploring your neurodivergent identity, or navigating life's challenges, I'm committed to partnering with you in a way that honors your strengths and supports meaningful growth.

Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

My passion for working with autistic and neurodivergent adults comes from a deep respect for the many ways people experience, understand, and interact with the world. Throughout my career, I have completed hundreds of evaluations for individuals with autism, ADHD, learning differences, and other neurodevelopmental profiles across the lifespan. I've also worked with individuals whose lives have been shaped by foster care, the justice system, housing instability, trauma, and other complex experiences. These experiences have reinforced my belief that neurodivergence is a natural part of human diversity—not something that needs to be "fixed." I enjoy helping clients better understand themselves, embrace their authentic identities, advocate for their needs, and build lives that align with their values instead of feeling pressured to fit others' expectations.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

My approach is neurodiversity-affirming, trauma-informed, culturally grounded, and strengths-based. I believe you are the expert on your own life, and I see my role as helping you better understand how your unique strengths, experiences, and ways of thinking can support the life you want to create. Together, we'll identify practical strategies that build on your natural abilities while honoring your individual goals and preferences.I also approach every client with cultural humility and genuine curiosity. I recognize that culture, race, socioeconomic experiences, LGBTQIA+ identities, disability, and neurodivergence all shape how people experience the world and access support. My priority is to create a space where you feel safe to be yourself, have a voice in your care, and make informed decisions that reflect what matters most to you. Together, we'll deepen your self-understanding, build on your strengths, and develop practical tools that help you move forward with greater confidence and self-compassion.
