About
Hello and welcome! My name is Jocelyn Thomann and I have been a practicing licensed clinical psychologist for over fifteen years. I began my professional journey working with children and adolescents with developmental and mental health needs by providing comprehensive diagnostic assessments to help these individuals and their families better understand each other and find support in their communities. In recent years, I have focused my work on diagnostic assessment of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in individuals across the lifespan, including adults being formally diagnosed for the first time. I understand that this process can be overwhelming and anxiety-provoking, particularly for individuals who may have been let down by the health system in the past, and with that understanding, my approach is warm, person-centered, and re-affirming throughout the diagnostic process.
Over the course of my professional career and personal life, it has become clear that an accurate diagnosis and clear recommendations are invaluable to improving each person’s quality of life. I have seen the progress and happiness that can emerge when a child or adult better understands their experiences and has a name for them. The longstanding lack of assessments for adults with autism motivated me to help bridge this gap and provide much-needed guidance and support to individuals seeking appropriate resources in their communities.
I use a structured and collaborative approach that integrates clinical interviews, standardized assessment tools, and developmental history to ensure accurate and meaningful diagnoses. I have particular expertise in working with adults who may have been overlooked or misdiagnosed earlier in life, including those who have developed compensatory strategies or “masking” behaviors. My goal is to create a respectful, affirming, and supportive assessment experience where individuals feel understood and validated. I provide detailed feedback and individualized recommendations to help clients better understand themselves and access appropriate supports, accommodations, and resources. I am committed to neurodiversity-affirming practice and strive to recognize and honor the strengths, identities, and lived experiences of each individual I work with.
