About

Hi there! I'm Dr. Jessica Wright, but I go by Dr. Jess. I'm a Licensed Psychologist and Licensed Specialist in School Psychology based in Texas. I am passionate about helping individuals gain a deeper understanding of themselves and their unique experiences. I believe that feeling truly seen and understood can be incredibly empowering, especially when exploring questions about identity, neurodiversity, and lifelong patterns that may not have always made sense. My professional background includes psychological assessment, trauma-informed care, and clinical supervision. I currently serve as the supervisor of a doctoral psychology internship program, where I mentor future psychologists while continuing to provide clinical services. Whether you are seeking clarity, validation, or a better understanding of how your mind works, my goal is to create a supportive and respectful environment where you feel comfortable sharing your story.

Education & Licensure
Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) in School Psychology, Nova Southeastern University; Master of Science in School Psychology, Nova Southeastern University; Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Florida International University; Associate in Arts in Psychology, Miami Dade College - The Honors College
Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

My passion for this work is rooted in both professional experience and personal values. As an Afro-Latina psychologist, I recognize how powerful it can be to see yourself reflected in the professionals who support you. I believe everyone deserves access to care that is affirming, culturally responsive, and respectful of their unique lived experiences. This commitment naturally extends to my work with autistic and neurodivergent adults, many of whom have spent years feeling misunderstood or trying to fit expectations that did not align with who they truly are. I am honored to help individuals, like you, gain greater clarity, self-understanding, and appreciation for their strengths.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

My approach is neurodiversity-affirming, strengths-based, and compassionate. I believe that autism and other forms of neurodivergence represent natural variations in human development rather than deficits to be "fixed." Every person brings unique strengths, talents, insights, and ways of engaging with the world, and I make it a priority to recognize and build upon those strengths throughout the assessment process.I approach each evaluation with curiosity, openness, and respect for your lived experience. I want you to feel comfortable asking questions, sharing your perspectives, and being your authentic self. My goal is not only to provide diagnostic clarity but also to help you better understand your strengths, challenges, needs, and sources of resilience. I strive to create a space where you feel validated, empowered, and equipped with meaningful information you can use moving forward. As an Afro-Latina psychologist, I also value cultural humility and recognize the importance of understanding how culture, identity, family experiences, and social factors shape each person's journey. I am committed to providing care that is inclusive, affirming, and responsive to the unique experiences of every individual I work with.
