About
Hello and welcome! I’m Jesse Mercer, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Denver, Colorado, and licensed in Colorado and Arizona. I’m passionate about helping people feel heard, recognize their strengths, and navigate life’s challenges with greater confidence and self-understanding.I bring more than 10 years of experience working with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds in both rural and urban communities. My background includes supporting adolescents and adults with trauma, anxiety, depression, parent-child conflict, and family relationship challenges, as well as several years working in child welfare. I earned my Master of Social Work from Colorado State University in 2011.My approach is warm, collaborative, and strengths-based. I work to create a compassionate space where you can speak openly, explore what matters to you, and develop practical tools for meaningful change. Together, we’ll build on your strengths and work toward goals that reflect the life you want to create.
My interest in working with autistic and neurodivergent clients connects closely with what drew me to social work: helping people feel understood and supporting them in ways that honor their individual experiences. My work with adolescents, adults, and families has reinforced how important it is to remain curious about each person’s perspective rather than assume what they need.I’m drawn to a strengths-based approach that respects differences in communication, processing, and navigating the world. I want to create a space where clients can express themselves comfortably, explore their needs without judgment, and build confidence in advocating for themselves. Together, we can develop practical strategies for daily challenges, relationships, and emotional well-being while working toward goals that are meaningful to them.
I begin by getting to know what matters to each client, their interests, values, abilities, and the ways they already care for themselves and navigate life. I listen with curiosity, honor their experiences, and work to create a space where they can express themselves without pressure to fit someone else’s expectations. My approach is collaborative and compassionate. I adapt our work to each person’s communication preferences, pace, and needs, building on their strengths to support self-understanding, confidence, and self-advocacy. Together, we identify meaningful goals and practical strategies that support growth while respecting who they are. I want clients to feel valued and supported in defining what a fulfilling life looks like for them.
