About
Hello! My name is Dr. Jennifer Rohrer and I am clinical and forensic psychologist, currently licensed in FL and VA. I also teach at several educational institutions. I currently reside in a beach town in Pinellas County, FL, where I try to get on the water as much as possible. As a psychologist, I prefer to work in a collegial manner to assist you with accurate diagnosis, case conceptualization, and treatment planning, if appropriate. I have spent the majority of my carer conducting psychological evaluations for the Courts and legal system but also conduct those on individuals for a clinical referral issue. As noted, I also love teaching and try to include some education into all of my assessments of individuals.
Neurodiversity, such as autism spectrum disorders, have often been misunderstood and there is now a large and exciting base of research on these issues - all of which can assist with the diagnostic process and treatment planning purposes but also help explain why an individual may behave in a certain manner. This education can be very helpful to the individual during the assessment and feedback process.
Psychology has grown toward identifying strengths and resilience as opposed to "weaknesses or deficits" - which can then be used to guide treatment, find appropriate resources, etc. This allows for the development of effective coping skills, a non-judgmental space, and the possible development of deep self-awareness.
