About
Hello my name is Jeff and I’ve been a therapist in Colorado for about 20 years. I've been employed in various settings some of them via therapeutic positions, and others in more supportive roles. I was an outreach worker for years where I worked with people experiencing homelessness by going into campsites and providing outreach services with my team. I also provided mental health services and assessments on the street in one of my positions. I am trained in Rogerian client centered therapy, and I try to meet individuals where they are at with unconditional positive regard and empathy. I have extensive experience working with people that struggle with anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD, relationship problems, addiction, etc. I am skilled in CBT, and I have run two DBT groups in the past, and try to bring mindfulness tools into my current practice as a method that has proven effective in seeking relaxation, emotional regulation, and gaining personal insight. On my time off I enjoy watching movies and rock climbing.
My motivation for working with neurodivergent individuals stems from a desire to work with people that are struggling to find tools and support to fit in with peers and society as a whole. Some of my reasons are through lived experience, as I do not meet full criteria for Austism, however I have had struggles fitting in with peers during school years and occupationally as an adult, and I recognize how much of an impact this has had on my life. Through the years I have developed tools to be more effective and skilled in social situations and gain more acceptance within myself.
I feel that neurodivergence is not a deficit or something that needs to be fixed. By focusing on one’s own values, skills, interests, self acceptance, coping strategies, and overall strengths seem to be the natural approach in improving quality of life and gaining insight. I listen nonjudgmentally and provide a safe space for individuals to share their struggles and find successes through their own answers and insights.
