About

Hello and welcome. I’m glad you’re here. My name is Jeff Wheeler, and I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Midlothian, Texas. I was diagnosed with autism two years ago at the age of 37, after years of struggling without knowing why, and that experience deeply shaped my path into mental health. Before becoming a therapist, I worked in aviation as a pilot, which taught me calm, clarity, and communication—qualities I bring into every session. I strive to create a steady, compassionate space where you can feel seen, heard, and supported as you navigate your own journey.

Education & Licensure
Bachelors in Aeronautical Technology from Kansas State University at Salina; Bachelors in Psychology from Fort Hays State University; Masters in Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington
Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

My motivation for specializing in work with autistic and neurodivergent clients comes from my own lived experience. Being diagnosed with autism later in life helped me understand years of struggling to form friendships and trying to navigate a world that often felt confusing and overwhelming. I know what it’s like to move through a society that wasn’t built with neurodivergent people in mind, and that perspective drives my commitment to creating a space where others don’t have to feel alone. I focus on honoring each person’s strengths, challenges, and individuality, and my goal is to help clients feel understood, validated, and empowered as they build lives that truly work for them.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

I use an affirming, strengths‑based approach that focuses on what’s already working for you. Instead of centering on challenges, I help you recognize your abilities, patterns, and resilience, and we build from there at a pace that feels comfortable. I listen closely, validate your experiences, and create a space where you don’t have to mask or fit into expectations that weren’t made for you. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I also understand the importance of identity‑affirming care and strive to make sure all parts of who you are feel respected and supported.
