About
Hi, I’m Ja’Nisha Robinson, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas. My background includes working with individuals across inpatient, outpatient, residential, and community mental health settings, which has allowed me to support people from various backgrounds with a wide range of mental health concerns. My passion for mental health extends beyond providing therapy. I’m committed to reducing the stigma surrounding mental illness, increasing access to quality mental health care, and helping individuals feel seen, heard, and understood. I believe everyone deserves a space where they can show up as themselves without fear of judgment. My goal is to provide compassionate, culturally responsive care that recognizes each person's unique experiences, challenges, and strengths.
My interest in working with autistic and neurodivergent adults comes from my belief that mental health care should never require someone to change who they are just to be accepted or understood. Throughout my career, I've worked with individuals who have spent much of their lives feeling misunderstood, overlooked, or pressured to meet expectations that don't necessarily align with how they experience the world.I recognize how exhausting it can be to constantly adapt to environments that aren't designed with your needs in mind. I want to provide a space where neurodivergent adults can better understand themselves, process their experiences, advocate for their needs, and develop healthier relationships with themselves and others. My goal isn't to teach anyone how to appear more neurotypical. It's to help them navigate life in ways that honor who they are while addressing the challenges that may affect their mental health and overall well-being.
My approach begins with recognizing that every individual has strengths, perspectives, and abilities that deserve to be acknowledged and respected. I don't believe in approaching neurodivergence as something that needs to be fixed. Instead, I focus on understanding how each person experiences the world, identifying what already works for them, and building upon those strengths.I recognize that many neurodivergent adults have spent years masking parts of themselves to feel accepted or understood. I strive to create an environment where clients don't feel pressured to perform, explain, or justify who they are. I value collaboration, autonomy, and allowing clients to define what progress looks like for themselves. As a Black lesbian ND therapist, I also recognize the importance of cultural identity and how intersecting experiences can influence someone's relationship with themselves and the world around them. My goal is to help clients develop greater self-understanding, confidence, and self-advocacy while honoring their individuality.
