About
Hello and welcome. I’m Dr. Ricci Elkun, a licensed clinical psychologist practicing in California. I’m truly glad you’re here. My work is grounded in creating a safe, compassionate space where you feel heard, understood, and supported as your full self. I believe in partnering with clients in a way that honors their lived experience, celebrates their strengths, and helps them move toward greater well‑being, clarity, and self‑trust
I chose this path because I have always been drawn to the depth, resilience, and complexity of human experience. Over time, I developed a strong passion for working with neurodivergent adults—especially those who have felt misunderstood or overlooked in previous clinical settings. I am inspired by the insight, creativity, and unique perspectives within the neurodivergent community, and I strive to offer care that is validating, empowering, and genuinely affirming. My goal is to help clients navigate challenges while building on the strengths and capacities that are already within them.
I prioritize an affirming, strengths‑based approach that helps every individual feel seen, valued, and empowered. I believe each client carries unique abilities and insights that can support growth and resilience. I listen deeply, validate their experiences, and create a safe, compassionate space for authentic expression. My work is rooted in cultural humility, respect for neurodiversity, and a commitment to helping clients recognize their strengths and move toward their full potential.
My practice integrates advanced psychological assessment and evidence‑based integrative psychotherapy. I provide diagnostic evaluations for ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, learning disorders, and neurocognitive conditions, as well as pre‑treatment psychological clearances for bariatric surgery, chronic pain procedures, spinal cord stimulator implantation, and opioid‑related interventions. My assessment style is collaborative, culturally informed, and neurodivergence‑affirming.
In therapy, I use an integrative approach drawing from EMDR, Brainspotting, cognitive behavioral-therapy, clinical hypnosis, schema therapy, mindfulness‑based interventions, autogenic training, and bioenergetic methods. I tailor treatment to support trauma recovery, emotional regulation, identity development, and mind‑body integration.
I began my professional journey in Italy, where I trained and worked as a nurse practitioner before earning my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in clinical psychology. After practicing as a psychotherapist in Italy, I relocated to the United States and completed my doctorate in clinical psychology with honors. My international background informs my commitment to multicultural sensitivity, inclusive care, and respect for diverse cultural identities and neurotypes.
As a certified clinical hypnotherapist, I integrate mind‑body approaches and psychoanalytic perspectives when appropriate. My diploma in clinical hypnosis further supports my ability to offer safe, ethical, and effective hypnotic interventions.
I am fluent in English and Italian and have proficiency in French. I enjoy working with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds, neurotypes, and life experiences.
