About
Welcome and congratulations on taking this meaningful step toward greater clarity and well-being. I'm Dr. Jamie Hakim, a licensed clinical psychologist with licenses in Virginia, Washington, D.C., and through PSYPACT. I believe deeply in the power of self-awareness and self-understanding as the foundation for lasting growth, and I'm here to help you build both. My approach is supportive, client-centered, and diversity-affirming. That means you'll always find a safe, nonjudgmental space here to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. You are the expert on your own life, and my role is to walk alongside you with the tools, insight, and care you need to show up as your best self.
My commitment to working with autistic and neurodivergent clients is rooted in both the personal and the professional. Early experiences have given me a lasting appreciation for the unique ways neurodivergent individuals experience the world, including the strengths that often go unrecognized, and the very real challenges of navigating systems and spaces not built with them in mind. With that in mind, I am committed to affirming, non-pathologizing care, with an approach that starts from the belief that neurodivergence is merely a difference, not a deficit. My goal is to offer a space where you feel genuinely seen, supported, and empowered to gain a better understanding of yourself and build the life that works for you.
My approach is grounded in compassion and a genuine absence of judgment, with the understanding that every client I work with brings strengths, resilience, and a perspective worth understanding deeply. I believe in an individualistic, person-centered approach, taking the time to truly get to know you, your experiences, and your goals before drawing any conclusions. You are the expert on your own life, and I am here to listen first. I believe that clarity and growth become possible when you feel safe enough to be honest about your struggles, your questions, and who you are. I understand that labels can feel complicated as they may overgeneralize, can be hard to sit with, and for some, feel unnecessary altogether. And yet, I also believe that they can be a powerful source of clarity, community, and support. My role is to help you arrive at that clarity and use it to move forward, on your own terms.
