About
This is the therapist you are looking for. That is if you’re looking for a therapist who understands complexity, empathy, and real-world challenges—this is the space for you. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in North and South Carolina with extensive experience supporting individuals navigating trauma, addiction, ADHD, and major life transitions. My practice is rooted in compassion, authenticity, and evidence-based care. I am especially committed to serving LGBTQ+ individuals, veterans, first responders, and those living with social isolation or identity-related concerns.
“Everyone is a genius, but if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it’ll spend its whole life believing it is stupid.”Growing up with undiagnosed ADHD felt like living in a world that kept handing me maps written in a language I was never taught to read. From the outside, it may have looked like inconsistency, forgetfulness, overreacting, or wasted potential. From the inside, it felt like trying relentlessly, sincerely, and constantly, only to be misunderstood by the very people who believed effort should have been enough. The gifted child who never lived up to “their” expectations. I learned early how to hide confusion, how to laugh off disorganization, how to absorb criticism, and how to keep moving even when my mind felt like it was pulling in a hundred directions at once. There was little room for explanation because there was little to no access to healthcare, no clear path to assessment, and no one naming what was actually happening. Instead of support, there was often shame. Instead of answers, there were assumptions. I was left to make sense of struggles that had never been put into words.Even so, I kept going. I fought for every degree I earned, often carrying more than people could see: the exhaustion of compensating, the emotional toll of feeling “behind,” and the quiet grief of wondering how different life might have been if someone had recognized the signs sooner. Education became more than achievement; it became reclamation. It gave me language for my experience and, eventually, purpose. I decided that what I had lived through would not end with me. I dedicated my life to helping others understand the effects of neurodivergency on our lives: how it shapes learning, relationships, self-worth, trauma, resilience, and the ways we move through systems that were not designed with us in mind. What once felt like a private struggle became a public mission. After two failed marriages, I met someone who has supported me and allowed me to be the person I always have been and accepted my differences as special parts of me. They showed me that I didn’t have to hide who I was and it was liberating. I want to help others achieve the freedom I have been given. My story is not just about surviving undiagnosed ADHD. It is about turning pain into clarity, isolation into advocacy, and lived experience into a lifelong commitment to helping others feel seen, understood, and less alone.
I work to create a safe and affirming environment where every person is seen, heard, and valued. My therapeutic approach emphasizes understanding your unique story and tailoring strategies to support your goals. Clients often come to me with struggles involving communication, social anxiety, sexuality, and relational conflict. Together, we unpack difficult experiences, develop emotional resilience, and foster confidence in navigating life’s demands. Psychoeducation is very important to me. We need to understand where we are to see where we need to go. I often provide educational sessions for loved ones to help them understand what you may be going through. With a strong foundation in multicultural perspectives, I provide inclusive, nonjudgmental care informed by clinical expertise and deep respect for who you are. Whether you're healing from trauma, rebuilding after addiction, managing ADHD, or striving for personal growth, I am here to walk alongside you with empathy, clarity, and steady support. You don’t have to face these challenges alone. Help is here.Talk soonJim"Nobody important? Blimey, that's amazing. You know, in 900 years of time and space, I've never met anyone who wasn't important before?" ~ The Doctor
