About
Greetings! Thank you for reading a bit about me. My name is Jacquelyn Kraps, PhD, and I go by Dr. JK in my work as a psychologist. I reside in Massachusetts, but I am originally from the Midwest, and I maintain clinical licenses in both Ohio and Massachusetts. I absolutely love being in the field of mental health and wellness. It is always an honor when someone entrusts me with their life story. I strive to show that I am a consistently thoughtful and affirming provider, particularly for our Queer and Neurodivergent communities. My hope is that we can partner together to explore your unanswered questions and then paint a vibrant and clearer picture of your totality.
My time within the autism community began with offering in-home care for younger children many years ago. These experiences taught me a range of fundamentals, and each kid's amazing strengths and unique needs helped me adopt a relational rather than a purely behavioral approach to care. Over the years, I have grown up professionally with many phenomenal neurodivergent colleagues and adult clients, including serving as co-chair of a group focused on the intersection of autism and trauma. Seeing how often folks who do not fit the classic, deficit-based model of autism were overlooked, misdiagnosed, and under supported has led me to feel extremely passionate about helping to create access to accurate assessment.
My approach to supporting every client involves recognizing that we are the accumulation of every life stage that preceded the present moment. I find it very important to emphasize commonalities among humanity, and demonstrate that everything you think and feel will be wholly accepted in our space together. I aim to deeply listen to all that you share so we can integrate this information and create a better understanding that will benefit you lifelong.
