About

If you’ve spent years carrying the heavy, painful question of "what is wrong with me?" and are looking for a dedicated space to safely explore how your brain navigates the world, you are in the right place.

Hello! I’m Dr. Jacquelyn Johnson (gladly known by my clients as Dr. J). I am a licensed clinical psychologist based in Nevada, licensed in both Nevada and California, and PSYPACT authorized to practice telehealth across multiple states. What drives me as a provider is a deep passion for helping adults look at their history through a compassionate lens—shifting the narrative away from personal failure and helping them better understand how they process the world around them.

My background in psychological assessment began in 2013. Over the years, I’ve developed an assessment style that is collaborative and conversational, designed to make you an active partner in this process rather than someone being evaluated from a sterile clinical distance. I take the time to deeply understand your unique history so that your assessment accurately reflects your actual lived experience.

You can expect a thoughtful, culturally grounded evaluation—one that honors how neurodivergence can present differently depending on your background, and acknowledges the brilliant ways you may have learned to adapt or mask over time. Navigating a world that wasn't built for your specific unique wiring takes immense resilience. Whatever the final outcome of our evaluation may be, my goal is for you to walk away feeling deeply heard, validated in your struggles, and equipped with a clearer roadmap for your next steps.

Whether you are exploring questions you’ve held for years or seeking understanding for the very first time, I am honored to partner with you on this journey of self-discovery.

Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

My decision to focus on adult assessment stems from a deep respect for the unique ways our brains process the world. Early in my career, I witnessed the profound, life-changing relief clients experienced when they could finally move away from self-blame and toward self-compassion.

I chose to focus on adult autism assessment because I want to provide a validating, collaborative space for adults navigating this journey of self-discovery. So many individuals grow up feeling fundamentally misunderstood, often spending years exhausting themselves by masking just to navigate daily life. I am deeply inspired by the immense resilience of the neurodivergent community.

My "why" is rooted in shifting the narrative away from personal failure or a rigid checklist of deficits. Instead, I want to offer an affirming evaluation experience that highlights your natural strengths and equips you with the deep self-understanding you need to confidently take your next steps.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

As a Black woman and a clinician, I intimately understand how identity, culture, and lived experience heavily shape how we show up, how we adapt, and how likely our struggles are to be recognized in the first place. Because of this, I deliberately approach every evaluation with genuine curiosity rather than a rigid, one-size-fits-all checklist mindset.

My assessment style focuses on uncovering and honoring your individual strengths, rather than just cataloging deficits. I believe a truly affirming approach means actively listening to your history, validating your unique perspective, and identifying the internal resources that have allowed you to navigate complex spaces.

My hope is that you leave our evaluation not just with clinical answers, but with a deep appreciation for your own resilience and the clear data you need to confidently pursue your next steps.
