About
Hello and welcome! I’m Jacqueline Harris, a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist in North Carolina, as well as a Licensed Professional Counselor in South Carolina. I’m passionate about helping individuals feel seen, heard, and supported as they navigate life’s challenges and work toward greater emotional well-being.
My approach to counseling is warm, compassionate, and person-centered. I believe that every individual brings their own strengths, experiences, and way of seeing the world into therapy, and I strive to create a safe and accepting space where you can be yourself without judgment. I enjoy helping clients better understand themselves, build practical coping skills, recognize their strengths, and develop strategies that work for their unique needs and goals.
Throughout my career, I have worked with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, relationship challenges, substance use concerns, and other emotional and behavioral health needs. What continues to drive me as a provider is seeing people discover that growth can happen when they have the right support, tools, and space to move forward at their own pace.
I look forward to getting to know you, learning what matters most to you, and working together in a way that honors who you are.
Aim to share a genuine and compassionate reason why you chose this path.
I believe therapy should meet you where you are rather than expecting you to fit into a particular mold. This is especially important to me when working with autistic and neurodivergent individuals, whose experiences, strengths, communication styles, and needs can be very different from one person to another. My goal is to provide a supportive, neurodiversity-affirming environment where you can feel comfortable being yourself without judgment or pressure to change the qualities that make you uniquely you.
My clinical background includes supporting individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, relationship challenges, substance use concerns, and other emotional and behavioral health needs. I use approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness, strengths-based, and trauma-informed care while adapting therapy to the individual rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.
What drives me as a provider is helping people better understand themselves, recognize their strengths, develop practical tools for everyday life, and build confidence in navigating challenges. I value collaboration, compassion, patience, and authenticity in the therapeutic relationship.
Most importantly, I want therapy to be a place where you don't have to pretend to be someone you're not. We will work together at a pace that feels comfortable for you, focusing on the goals and changes that matter most in your life.
I believe every person brings valuable strengths, abilities, experiences, and perspectives into the therapeutic space. My role is not to focus solely on what may feel difficult or challenging, but to help you recognize what is already within you and build upon those strengths in ways that support the life you want to create.
I approach therapy with compassion, curiosity, affirmation, and respect for each person’s individuality. When working with autistic and neurodivergent clients, I recognize that differences in communication, sensory experiences, emotional expression, relationships, and ways of navigating the world are not simply problems that need to be “fixed.” Together, we can explore what works for you, identify your strengths and needs, and develop strategies that honor who you are.
I also understand that many people have spent years feeling misunderstood, masking parts of themselves, or trying to meet expectations that did not fit who they truly are. I strive to provide a space where you can show up authentically and feel valued without judgment. My goal is to help you develop greater self-understanding, confidence, self-advocacy, and practical tools while recognizing and building upon the strengths you already possess.
I see therapy as a partnership. You are the expert on your own experiences, and I am here to listen, support, encourage, and work alongside you as you move toward the goals and possibilities that are meaningful to you.
