About

Hi and welcome! My name is Hunter Soens and I currently live in south Florida, where I am a licensed psychologist. I really enjoy working with individuals to achieve their goals so they can live a more meaningful and fulfilling life in whatever way that looks for them and believe getting clarity around diagnosis can be an important step. My goal in working with clients is to create a warm, welcoming, and comfortable space where anything and everything can be discussed. I strive to be as direct and open as possible and often bring humor into the room to make the most enjoyable and impactful experience I can. I look forward to connecting with you and joining your journey to help in whatever ways that I can!

Education & Licensure

Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

Working primarily in college counseling centers during the past few years has allowed me to see a large variety of clients from different backgrounds presenting with so many unique obstacles and stressors. I have had the privilege of working with clients as they navigate their ASD diagnosis in this setting or joining along side them as they navigate pursuing diagnostic clarity. These experiences piqued my interest as I saw a need for more support that was not quite available in the settings I was working in. I found working with clients navigating ASD or other neurodivergent diagnoses was extremely rewarding and fulfilling as a clinician and a natural passion began to grow. Finding Prosper felt like a perfect fit to continue growing in this area while following this passion to provide services to a community I deeply care about.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

Throughout my Master’s and Doctoral training, a strengths-based and affirming approach has been the priority. I believe every person has innate strengths and abilities that have allowed them to succeed in life and therapy can be a tool to bolster these strengths while learning additional skills. I make it a point to consider and discuss cultural and identity based factors that may also be impacting functioning for clients. As a white male, I also acknowledge that I may have different identities than my clients and work collaboratively to ensure I am understanding every individual as an individual. I believe we all have unique experiences and lives that we are living but through an approach of openness, curiosity, and warmth, we can better understand each other on a deeper level that allows for greater connection.
