About

Hello and welcome — I’m really glad you’re here. My name is Howard Hansell, and I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania.  I live in the Pottstown, PA  area and am passionate about supporting neurodivergent adults in ways that honor their lived experience, strengths, and unique ways of moving through the world. My approach is holistic and flexible. I don’t believe in forcing people into a neurotypical mold — instead, I work collaboratively to understand your sensory needs, communication style, executive functioning patterns, and values. Together, we’ll build strategies that work with your brain, not against it.Clients often tell me they appreciate my calm, validating presence and the sense of safety they feel in our work. My goal is to help you feel understood, empowered, and supported as you move toward a life that feels sustainable and authentically yours.

Education & Licensure

Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

My motivation for this work comes from a holistic belief that people thrive when all parts of their experience are welcomed — their sensory world, their communication style, their passions, their challenges, and their values. I’m drawn to working with autistic and neurodivergent adults because of the depth, authenticity, and clarity they bring to the therapeutic relationship. I’m committed to offering care that supports autonomy, reduces shame, and helps clients build systems that work with their brains rather than against them. My “why” is simple: everyone deserves a space where they feel understood, respected, and empowered to live in alignment with who they truly are.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

I bring a compassionate, strengths‑based lens to therapy, focusing on what clients do well and how those strengths can support meaningful change. I honor each person’s autonomy, preferences, and lived experience, and I tailor my approach to fit their natural ways of thinking, feeling, and engaging with the world. My goal is to create a space where clients feel safe to explore, unmask, and grow — a space where their strengths are recognized, their challenges are met with understanding, and their full potential is supported with warmth and respect.
