About
Welcome, thank you for reading my bio! I want to commend you for taking the steps to find a therapist. Whether you are new to therapy or continuing your journey, you are in the right place! I’m Helen Tracey. I’m a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the state of Maryland. My ideal client identifies as neurodivergent and may be struggling with relationships, emerging adulthood, identity, life transitions and career concerns that have kept them stuck. They may have anxiety and/or depression which negatively impacts the relationship with themselves and others but are wanting to feel more empowered in life.
As a neurodivergent therapist, I’m drawn to working with neurodivergent individuals because it’s really important that they have access to knowledgeable and affirming providers. Along with my clinical training and knowledge of neurodivergence, I also have lived experience that helps me relate to clients. I want the clients I work with to feel seen, heard and supported through their journey of self-discovery and healing.
My therapeutic style is warm, empathetic and caring. I take a neuro-affirmative and decolonized approach to my clinical work with clients, honoring each individual. I use a conversational approach, helping clients to narrate their stories in a safe space. I utilize evidence based interventions, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing to help you achieve your goals for treatment.
