About
Hi there! I’m Dr. Hannah Long, a licensed clinical rehabilitation psychologist in Illinois. My background in rehabilitation psychology has equipped me to support adults seeking to optimize independence while coping with unexpected life changes. I work collaboratively with clients to identify their unique strengths and values and to develop practical, individualized strategies that support independence and honor neurodiversity.
My motivation for working with autistic and neurodivergent adults stems from years in the healthcare system, where I have seen how often individuals are misunderstood, misdiagnosed, or labeled in ways that don’t reflect their lived experiences. I understand how challenging and isolating it can be to navigate systems not designed with neurodivergent people in mind. My goal is to provide compassionate, neurodiversity-affirming care that helps clients feel seen and understood, make sense of their experiences, and develop practical strategies that support daily life and relationships—without pressuring them to change who they are.
During graduate school, I focused my dissertation on how therapy dogs support autistic children, an experience that shaped my strengths-based, individualized approach to care. I am passionate about creating a supportive, affirming space where clients feel seen, validated, and empowered to explore their identity. I work collaboratively with each person to identify and build on their unique strengths, skills, and values, helping them navigate life in self-directed, meaningful ways that align with their identity. Together, we will focus on growth and possibility.
