Intro
Hi! My name is Hannah Jones, and I'm a licensed clinical psychologist based in Virginia. I have a background in child clinical psychology with specialized interest in neurodiversity, cultural responsiveness, and trauma-informed care. I am an intersectional being collaborating with intersectional beings and honor you as the experts of your experience.
My child-focused training emphasized the need for well-informed, client-centered approaches to assessment, intervention, and support for all kinds of neurodevelopmental needs. Now it is important to me to translate these skills to people of all ages, especially as more and more adults are learning about autism and other forms of neurodiversity. I am enthusiastic about working with clients to learn how their brains work and to help their environments work best for them.
I love the beauty of neurodiversity. I am reminded of this every time I talk with autistic family members about a special interest, or walk with newly diagnosed clients on the spectrum as they work to integrate Autism into their concept of self. Each of our brains are uniquely special, and our strengths lie in that uniqueness. When we have a clear understanding of our particular brand of neurodiversity, we are better able to advocate for ourselves, identify resources that help us to be our most authentic and functional selves, and tailor our environments to fit our needs. This is what neuroaffirmative care means to me--affirming that our distinct form of brainpower is not going to be found in anyone else, and is necessary along with everyone else's, in order for humanity to be at its best.
