About
My name is Fatemeh Akbari and I am a dedicated provider specializing in psychological evaluation, with a particular focus on autism and developmental differences. Based in Saint Louis, Missouri and licensed in Missouri, I bring a strong clinical foundation and a thoughtful, individualized approach to every evaluation I conduct. My work is driven by a commitment to understanding each person’s unique profile—their strengths, challenges, and lived experiences—so that assessments are not just diagnostic, but meaningful and actionable. I have experience working with children, adults, and families across diverse backgrounds, and I strive to create a supportive, respectful environment where individuals feel seen, heard, and understood.I am especially passionate about autism evaluations because of the impact that accurate, early identification can have on access to services, self-understanding, and long-term outcomes. My goal is to provide clear, compassionate guidance that empowers families and individuals to move forward with confidence and clarity.
I was drawn to specializing in work with autistic and neurodivergent clients through both my clinical experiences and a growing appreciation for neurodiversity. Early in my training, I saw how often individuals were misunderstood or misdiagnosed, and how much that impacted their access to appropriate support. I realized that thoughtful, comprehensive evaluations could play a powerful role in helping people feel accurately seen and understood. What has continued to deepen my commitment is the opportunity to highlight strengths alongside challenges and to reframe differences in a more affirming, respectful way. I value being part of a process that not only provides clarity for families and individuals but also opens doors to resources, self-advocacy, and greater confidence. This work is meaningful to me because it combines clinical skill with genuine human connection. I strive to approach each evaluation with curiosity, empathy, and cultural awareness, ensuring that every person’s experience is honored and that the conclusions we reach truly reflect who they are.
I bring an affirming and strength-based approach to my work by intentionally focusing on each individual’s unique abilities, interests, and ways of engaging with the world, rather than defining them by challenges alone. In my evaluations, I aim to create a space where clients feel safe, respected, and genuinely understood. I take time to recognize patterns of resilience, highlight areas of strength, and ensure that these are centered in both my interpretation and recommendations. My approach is rooted in the belief that neurodivergence is not something to be “fixed,” but understood and supported. I work collaboratively with clients and families to reframe differences in a way that fosters self-awareness, confidence, and empowerment. Recommendations are always individualized, practical, and designed to build on what is already working, helping clients access their full potential in ways that feel authentic to them.I also strive to practice with cultural humility and awareness, recognizing how identity, background, and lived experiences shape each person’s needs and perspectives. This allows me to provide care that is not only clinically sound but also affirming, inclusive, and responsive to the whole person.
