Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

My interest in working with Autistic adults is grounded in a deep respect for neurodiversity and a commitment to creating a therapeutic environment in which individuals feel valued, understood, and empowered. This interest was further developed through my clinical experience working with two Autistic young adult clients in psychotherapy. I was inspired by their individual strengths, perspectives, resilience, and commitment to navigating important areas of their lives. Both were engaged in college coursework, employed, and maintaining family and social relationships to the best of their abilities.

While each client experienced unique challenges in navigating daily life, relationships, and personal goals, I was continually struck by their openness to therapeutic support and their willingness to explore strategies that could enhance their well-being and functioning. These experiences reinforced for me the importance of providing individualized, strengths-based care that honors each person's lived experience, communication style, goals, and unique way of engaging with the world.

This experience broadened my clinical focus and strengthened my commitment to supporting Autistic adults as they navigate life transitions, relationships, emotional and behavioral challenges, and other areas of daily functioning. My goal is to partner with each client in identifying their strengths, developing meaningful skills, and creating strategies that support greater confidence, connection, and quality of life. I strive to provide care that recognizes and respects neurodiversity while supporting each individual in defining and pursuing what a fulfilling and meaningful life looks like for them.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

The above clinical experiences reinforced for me that therapy should never be about trying to change who someone is. Instead, I believe therapy can be a collaborative space to better understand yourself, navigate challenges, build on your strengths, and develop strategies that support the life you want to live.

In our work together, I strive to honor your individual experiences, communication style, strengths, goals, and way of experiencing the world. Whether you are navigating relationships, life transitions, emotional challenges, work or school, or simply trying to better understand yourself, we can work together to identify strategies that support your well-being, confidence, and quality of life.
