About
Hi, I’m Dr. Fabianne Blake, a licensed clinical psychologist in New York and Connecticut. I’ve worked with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families across hospital, intensive outpatient, and private practice settings. I’m especially drawn to helping people better understand themselves, particularly when their experiences have felt confusing, overlooked, or difficult to put into words. My approach is warm, collaborative, and curious, with an emphasis on understanding the whole person rather than reducing someone to a diagnosis or a list of symptoms. My goal is to help you feel comfortable being yourself while we work toward greater clarity, self-understanding, and practical next steps.
I have always been drawn to working with people whose experiences do not fit neatly into the expectations or categories others may have placed on them. I enjoy taking the time to understand how someone thinks, communicates, relates to others, and experiences the world, rather than making assumptions based on how they appear from the outside.Working with autistic and neurodivergent clients allows me to bring that curiosity and careful attention to the assessment process. Many people reach adulthood having spent years adapting, masking, or wondering why certain aspects of life seem to require so much effort. I value the opportunity to help clients make sense of those experiences and develop a more accurate and compassionate understanding of themselves. My goal is for assessment to provide not simply a diagnosis, but useful clarity that clients can carry forward in their lives.
I take an affirming, strengths-based approach by trying to understand each person in the context of their experiences, values, abilities, and the environments in which they live. I am interested not only in what has been difficult, but also in the strategies, interests, relationships, and personal strengths that have helped you navigate your life. I approach differences with curiosity rather than assuming they are deficits that need to be corrected. My goal is to help you develop a clearer understanding of yourself, recognize what already works for you, and identify ways to build on those strengths while making changes that support your goals and well-being.
