About
Hello and welcome! I am Erica Featherson, PhD, a licensed clinical psychologist who is deeply passionate about helping people feel understood, supported, and empowered in their growth. I’m based in Maryland and licensed to practice in Maryland, Washington DC and hold psychpact licensure to provide services in additional participating states, where I provide therapy, psychological assessments, and clinical consultation across the lifespan. What drives my work is the belief that healing happens best in spaces that feel safe, collaborative, and affirming. I strive to meet each person where they are, with curiosity, compassion, and respect for their lived experience, while also offering evidence-based care that is thoughtful, structured, and meaningful. A particular area of interest in my work includes supporting neurodivergent and autistic individuals, with an emphasis on strengths-based, affirming care that honors individuality, autonomy, and identity. My background includes working with individuals navigating anxiety, trauma, life transitions, identity development, and complex emotional challenges, as well as conducting comprehensive psychological and neuropsychological evaluations. Above all, I value authenticity and connection in the therapeutic relationship. My goal is to create a space where clients feel seen, heard, and supported as they work toward clarity, balance, and lasting change.
My interest in working with autistic and neurodivergent individuals grew from both lived experiences and years of listening closely to clients who felt misunderstood, overlooked, or pressured to fit into systems that were not designed with them in mind. I’ve seen how powerful it can be when someone is met with curiosity instead of correction, and affirmation instead of judgment. My goal is to provide a space where neurodivergent individuals feel truly seen, where their experiences are validated, their strengths are recognized, and their challenges are approached with compassion and practical support. I’m deeply motivated to help clients access understanding, tools, and resources that support autonomy, self-advocacy, and quality of life, while honoring who they are rather than trying to change them. If you’re looking for a provider who values your voice, respects your identity, and wants to walk alongside you in a way that feels safe and empowering, I would be honored to work with you
My approach is grounded in compassion, curiosity, and meeting each person exactly where they are. I believe meaningful growth begins with feeling understood, not fixed. Rather than focusing on challenges or limitations, I work collaboratively with clients to honor their experiences, recognize their strengths, and make sense of how they move through the world. My goal is to create a space that feels safe, affirming, and respectful, where clients can build self-understanding and confidence at their own pace.In my assessment work, I view testing as a process of discovery and clarity, not judgment. Evaluations are designed to help individuals better understand how they think, learn, and process, while highlighting strengths and identifying supports that can truly make a difference. I strive to ensure that every client leaves the process feeling heard, validated, and supported, with clear insights and practical recommendations that empower self-advocacy and meaningful next steps.
