Hello! Thanks for checking out my profile. My name is Eric Houston, and I’m a clinical psychologist licensed in New York and Michigan. I have worked with neurodivergent individuals for over 14 years as a therapist and diagnostician. In addition, my background includes experience as a clinical researcher in which I have conducted studies examining the connection between individual differences, goal setting, and health behaviors. My mission with regard to assessments is to identify a client’s strengths and challenges with the aim of helping them build a fulfilling life.
My career as a psychologist has focused on understanding and valuing the unique experiences of individual clients and helping them to effectively navigate the challenges they face. My motivation is the outgrowth of this career focus. My aim is to provide comprehensive assessments of autism in a safe and affirming space that will empower clients to reach their goals through a better understanding of themselves.
My approach to the clinical assessment process is collaborative, comprehensive, and evidence-based. My approach is also aimed at being affirming and respectful of the individual client and their experiences. To understand the challenges my clients experience, I start with a thorough clinical interview, and then integrate the use structured self-reports, questionnaires, and any information from others in their life. A key objective throughout the assessment process is making sure that my clients feel that they are in a safe, welcoming space where they can feel heard and respected.
