About

Hi there! I'm so glad you're here. My name is Emily Sonenshein. I currently live in the Philadelphia area and am licensed in Pennsylvania as well as with PsyPact (which allows me to work with clients in some other states). I deeply enjoy helping the people I work with develop self-understanding and greater well-being. In my clinical work, I aim to create a safe space where you feel heard and supported. I am committed to working with you to identify your strengths, to encourage your individuality, and to help you navigate challenges.

Education & Licensure
Psy.D. from Widener University; Bachelors in Psychology from Cornell University
Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

I feel great empathy and respect for people who are neurodivergent. I am passionate about creating a safe, caring space where people with autism feel valued and encouraged, and where they feel seen for their unique strengths and qualities. I am committed to supporting people who are neurodivergent in developing skills to enhance their lives, to help them to feel understood, and to help them work through challenges that arise for them.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

I offer a strengths-based and affirming approach to my work with clients in order to help them feel respected and understood. I use active listening to tune into clients' unique experiences, strengths, and challenges and I prioritize conveying compassion and open-mindedness to allow clients to feel safe to share their feelings and experiences.
